On Thursday January 29, 2026 a group of local elected officials along with the Youth Leadership Walton Program traveled to the Georgia State Capital to meet with our state representatives. Representative Bruce Williamson and Representative Rey Martinez met us and introduced several of the Walton area representatives at a short briefing. We then received a tour of the Capital and several of us were permitted to go onto the floor of the House of Representatives and meet House Speaker Jon Burns and have our picture taken at the Speaker’s podium. The day concluded with lunch at Mary Mac’s Tearoom before traveling back to Monroe.
