Attached is the proposed new ordinance addressing the discharging of firearms within the Town of Between jurisdictional limits.The first reading was held tonight, March 9, 2026, at the Town Council Meeting. The second reading and vote will take place on April 13, 2026 during the Town Council Meeting.

Walton County Legislative Day – Georgia State Capital
On Thursday January 29, 2026 a group of local elected officials along with the Youth Leadership Walton Program traveled to the Georgia State Capital to meet with our state representatives. Representative Bruce Williamson and Representative Rey Martinez met us and introduced several of the Walton area representatives at a short briefing. We then received a tour of the Capital and several of us were permitted to go onto the floor of the House of Representatives and meet House Speaker Jon Burns and have our picture taken at the Speaker’s podium. The day concluded with lunch at Mary Mac’s Tearoom before traveling back to Monroe. A sincere thank you to Shane Short and Ben McDaniel of the Joint Development Authority for arranging this informative event.
